Get PDF Information

Document Info reads a PDF and returns a JSON report with file size, page count, PDF version, encryption status and the title and author fields. It does not detect digital signatures.

Get Info returns JSON: `FileSize`, `PageCount`, `Encrypted`, `Info` (title/author/subject/creator/producer when present), `Version`, `Pages` as `{page: n}` stubs, and `root`. `IsSigned` is always `false`; it is not a signature detector.

The website downloads that JSON through the same blob flow as a PDF. There is no inline report UI.

Encrypted is a trailer `/Encrypt` presence check, not a full permissions decode. The web pages ask for the password and unlock the file for you; API callers run Unlock before most other tools.

How do I check a PDF's page count and metadata?

  1. Upload a PDF.
  2. Click Process and download the `.json`.
  3. Read PageCount and Encrypted before choosing the next tool.
  4. Ignore IsSigned; run Validate Signature if signatures matter.

Limits and edge cases

  • IsSigned is a placeholder
  • No per-page geometry
  • Not a signature validator
  • Upload limit on this website: 500 MB per file, sent in chunks above about 95 MB. A single direct API request body is capped at 100 MB.

  • A signed PDF still reports IsSigned false

Frequently asked questions

Why is IsSigned always false?
The field is hard-coded. It is not computed from signature dictionaries.
What is in Pages?
An array of {page: 1}, {page: 2}, … with no boxes or rotation.
Does Encrypted true mean the password is not needed?
No. It means the trailer has Encrypt. Other tools still need the password: the web pages ask for it, and API callers run Unlock first.
Is this qpdf --json?
No. It is a small lopdf-built object.
