Remove the First Page From a PDF

Delete First Page removes page 1 from a PDF and saves the remaining pages as a new file, in their original order. The page field is preset to 1, and your original is left untouched.

A stray cover sheet, a fax header or a blank first page is easy to remove here. The page field is already set to 1, so the whole job is uploading the file and clicking Process.

The remaining pages are copied into a new PDF in their original order, so text stays selectable and nothing else is rendered again. Your original file is not changed, which makes it safe to try.

The same field can remove several pages at once. Type 1,2 to drop two pages, or 1-3 to drop the first three. To remove the last page instead, use the delete-last-page page.

Limits and edge cases

  • Removing every page leaves nothing, so at least one page must remain
  • Bookmarks and links that point at removed pages are not carried over
  • Password-protected files need their password first

  • Test file: a 10-page PDF generated for this project's test suite, one line of text per page.
  • Removing page 1 returned a 9-page PDF whose first page was Page 2 of 10.

Privacy for this tool

Does the original PDF change?
No. You download a new file, and the one you uploaded is left as it was.
Can I delete more than the first page?
Yes. List the pages in the field, such as 1,2 or 1-3, before you click Process.
How do I delete the last page instead?
Use the delete-last-page page, which removes the final page without you counting pages.
Will page numbers printed on the pages change?
No. Numbers printed inside the page content stay as they are, so a document may then start at page 2.
