Extract Pages saves the pages you list, such as 1,3,5-8, as a new PDF in the order you type them. Everything else is left out, and your original file is not changed.

Extract Pages keeps only the pages you list, for example `1,3,5-8`, and drops the rest. The result is a new PDF with the pages in the order you list them; a page number repeated in the list is used once.

The list accepts single pages, ranges such as `5-8`, the word `all`, and expressions such as `2n+1` for every odd page. A page number outside the document is rejected with an error instead of being skipped.

Pages are copied with qpdf, not re-rendered, so text stays selectable and images are not redrawn. The tool shares the `/api/v1/general/rearrange-pages` endpoint: the website sends your list as `pageNumbers` and leaves `customMode` unset, which selects custom-order mode.

Extract Pages is the mirror image of Remove Pages. Pick this one when you know which pages to keep and Remove Pages when you know which to drop. To cut a document into several files in one pass, use Split.

Password-protected files are unlocked for you on this page once you enter the password; API callers run Unlock first.

How do I extract pages from a PDF?

  1. Upload the PDF and enter its password if the page asks for one.
  2. Type the pages to keep, for example 1,3,5-8 or 4-9. Page numbers start at 1.
  3. Click Process. Pages you did not list are left out of the new file.
  4. Download the PDF and check the page count and order.

Limits and edge cases

  • A page number outside the document is an error, not a skip
  • Repeated page numbers are used once; Rearrange Pages in Duplicate mode writes each page twice
  • Password-protected files need the password; API callers run Unlock first
  • Upload limit on this website: 500 MB per file, sent in chunks above about 95 MB. A single direct API request body is capped at 100 MB.

Examples

  • Entering 1,4,7-9 on a 10-page file gives a 5-page PDF with pages 1, 4, 7, 8 and 9
  • Entering 5,1 gives a 2-page file with page 5 first

Frequently asked questions

How do I extract pages from a PDF?
Upload the PDF, type the pages to keep, such as 2,5-7, and click Process. You download a new PDF that contains only those pages.
Are the extracted pages kept in their original order?
They follow the order you type. Entering 5,1,3 gives page 5, then page 1, then page 3, and a page listed twice appears once.
What happens if I enter a page that does not exist?
The request fails with a page-out-of-range error, so a typo is reported instead of quietly giving you a shorter file.
Does extracting pages reduce quality?
No. Pages are copied with qpdf instead of being reprinted, so text stays selectable and images are not redrawn.
What is the difference between Extract Pages and Split?
Extract Pages produces one new PDF with the pages you keep. Split cuts the whole document into several files at the page numbers you give and returns them as a ZIP.
