Save Only the First Page of a PDF

Extract First Page copies page 1 of a PDF into a new one-page PDF and leaves your original untouched. The page field is preset to 1, and you can change it to take any other single page.

Drag and drop a file here, or click to choose

Accepts PDF · up to 500.0 MB per file

You can also paste a file with Ctrl/Cmd+V, or from the clipboard menu.

The first page is often the one you need on its own: a cover sheet, a signed front page, a one-page summary of a long report. This page is set up for exactly that. The page field already holds 1, so uploading the file and clicking Process is all it takes.

The tool builds a new PDF from the pages you list and saves it under a new name. Your original file is never changed, and the page keeps its text, fonts and images because it is copied from the file rather than re-rendered.

If you need a different page after all, type its number in the field before you process. The same field also takes ranges such as 1-3, so the page is a good starting point for the first few pages as well.

Features

  • Page field preset to 1; the original file is not changed
  • Copies the page itself, so text stays selectable and fonts are kept
  • Change the field to take any other page or range
  • No account or sign-in required

When to use this tool

  • Sending only the cover page of a report or contract
  • Taking a one-page abstract out of a long paper
  • Making a thumbnail-sized sample of a document to share

How do I extract the first page of a PDF?

  1. Upload the PDF
  2. Leave the page field at 1, or enter another page number
  3. Click Process and download the one-page PDF

Limits and edge cases

  • A page number beyond the last page is rejected with a clear message
  • Pages are copied as they are: no cropping, resizing or text editing
  • Password-protected files need their password first

Test results and conditions

  • Test file: a 10-page PDF generated for this project's test suite, one line of text per page.
  • Extracting page 1 returned a 1-page PDF whose text was Page 1 of 10.

Privacy for this tool

Files are uploaded over HTTPS, processed in memory or a short-lived temporary directory on our servers, and deleted when your result is ready. We do not keep copies for later browsing, training, or advertising profiles. See the Privacy Policy for retention details and AdSense cookie disclosures.

Frequently asked questions

Does extracting the first page change my original PDF?
No. You get a new file with the pages you chose, and the file you uploaded stays as it was.
Will the extracted page keep selectable text?
Yes. The page is copied from the file, not turned into an image, so text, links on the page and fonts are kept.
Can I take a different page instead of the first?
Yes. Type the page number in the field, for example 7, before you click Process.
What happens if the PDF has only one page?
You get a one-page copy of it. Nothing is lost, but nothing is removed either.
