Split by Page Count cuts a PDF into equal pieces, either N pages each or N documents of about equal length, and returns them in a ZIP. It divides by pages, not by file size in megabytes.

Choose By page count to set how many pages each piece has, or By document count to say how many files you want; the pages are then divided as evenly as possible.

Password-protected files are unlocked for you on this page once you enter the password; API callers run Unlock first.

How do I split a PDF into equal parts?

  1. Upload a PDF.
  2. Choose By page count or By document count and enter the number.
  3. Click Process and download the ZIP.
  4. Open a piece to check its length.

Limits and edge cases

  • No split by file size
  • The value must be a whole number of 1 or more
  • Password-protected files need the password; API callers run Unlock first
  • Upload limit on this website: 500 MB per file, sent in chunks above about 95 MB. A single direct API request body is capped at 100 MB.

Privacy for this tool

Can I split into files of 5 MB each?
Not yet. Splitting works by page count or by number of documents, not by file size.
What does By document count do?
You say how many files you want; each gets about the same number of pages (20 pages into 4 documents gives 5 pages each).
Is this the same as Split?
No. Split cuts after the page numbers you list. This tool cuts at a fixed interval.
