Remove the Last Page From a PDF

Delete Last Page drops the final page of a PDF and saves the rest in order as a new file. The mode is preset to Remove last page, so you never need to know how many pages the file has.

Drag and drop a file here, or click to choose

Accepts PDF · up to 500.0 MB per file

You can also paste a file with Ctrl/Cmd+V, or from the clipboard menu.

Deleting the last page by number means opening the file to count pages first. This page avoids that. The mode is set to Remove last page, which always drops the final page whatever the length of the file.

The other pages are copied in their original order into a new PDF. Your original is not changed. The same menu offers Remove first page and Remove first and last page if you need to trim both ends.

A file needs at least two pages for this mode, because removing the only page would leave an empty document. A one-page file is rejected with a message rather than producing a blank PDF.

Features

  • Mode preset to Remove last page; no page count needed

  • Remaining pages keep their order and selectable text
  • The original file is left untouched

  • Only the final page is removed; use the remove-pages page to delete several pages
  • Bookmarks that point at the removed page are not carried over

Test results and conditions

  • Test file: a 10-page PDF generated for this project's test suite, one line of text per page.
  • Remove last page returned a 9-page PDF whose first page was still Page 1 of 10.

Frequently asked questions

Do I need to know how many pages the PDF has?
No. The mode removes the final page whatever the length of the file.
Can I remove both the first and the last page?
Yes. Change the mode to Remove first and last page. That mode needs at least three pages.
What happens with a single-page PDF?
It is refused, because removing the only page would leave an empty file.
How do I remove a page in the middle?
Use the remove-pages tool and list the page number, for example 5 or 4-6.
