Convert Excel Spreadsheets to PDF
Excel to PDF converts an XLSX, XLS or ODS spreadsheet into a PDF with LibreOffice. Pages follow the sheet's own print setup, so set a print area in the source file for a tidy result.
Drag and drop files here, or click to choose
Accepts XLSX, XLS, ODS · up to 500.0 MB per file · up to 20 files at once
You can also paste a file with Ctrl/Cmd+V, or from the clipboard menu.
Excel to PDF sends your spreadsheet through LibreOffice (`soffice --convert-to pdf`). It accepts .xlsx, .xls and .ods. The download is named after your file with a .pdf extension, and page size comes from the workbook.
A spreadsheet has no natural page boundary, so the page count depends on the print setup in the file. In a test on a local server, an .xlsx sheet of 61 rows by 40 columns with no print area became 12 pages. A wide sheet is split across pages, so set a print area or reduce the columns in the source file before converting.
Layout follows LibreOffice's import, then its PDF export. Excel print areas, headers and footers, and scaling may not look exactly as they do in Excel, so compare the PDF with Excel's print preview.
Links to external resources, including linked files and remote images, are removed before conversion. Macros are not a feature, and encrypted workbooks often fail until you open and re-save them without a password.
This page converts one workbook at a time. If the numbers should become a table you can reuse rather than a picture of one, PDF to Excel goes the other way. For text documents use Word to PDF.

Frequently asked questions
- Why does my spreadsheet become so many pages?
- LibreOffice paginates sheets by their own page setup, so a wide sheet is split across pages. Set a print area or cut columns in the source file, then convert again.
- Can I fit the whole sheet on one page?
- Not from this page, which has no scaling options. Set the scale or fit-to-page option in the spreadsheet application first; it is part of the file's print setup.
- Are formulas kept?
- No. A PDF holds the displayed values as a page, not the formulas. Keep the spreadsheet if you still need to calculate.
- Why is a linked image missing?
- Links to external resources are removed before conversion. Embed the picture in the workbook and convert again.
- Can I convert several sheets or files at once?
- This page takes one workbook at a time. Convert each file and join the PDFs with Merge.
